A recent research paper in the Journal of Headache and Pain from researchers at the Akershus University Hospital in Oslo, Norway described the result of sending questionnaires to 15,000 30-44 year old women. From an analysis of the more than 11,000 respondents, it was determined that more than one third of women self-reported symptoms at any time of the month compatible with migraine. About 20% of these women reported migraine related to menstruation in at least two of three menstrual cycles.
See our previous post on the urgent need for more studies to explore whether or not exercise can relieve other symptoms of menstrual pain.
